10 Things You Didn’t Know About Your Boudoir Photographer

Andrea Murphy Photography

Hey, lovely! I’m Andrea, your Tulsa boudoir photographer! If you’ve found this blog you’re probably searching for the best photographer for you – or you’re my mom. So thanks for being here and Hi Mom!

It’s been a minute since I’ve done a proper introduction and although you can find a bit about me right here I thought I’d dive a little deeper. One of the scarier things about finding the perfect boudoir photographer is whether you can trust them. I want to put your mind at ease and let you get to know me a bit. Here’s a few random facts about your girl!

Throwing parties is my jam!
Whether it’s the annual Merry Murphy Christmas party, our Bubbly & Boudoir girls night out here at the studio, or throwing my kids’ school auction gala I’m all in! I love hosting and watching people I love have a marvelous time!

I could have been a Broadway Star
Just kidding, you don’t want to hear me sing but I absolutely love it. I am always humming a little tune and have dreamed of being on the stage. Before pursuing a degree in photography I chased my Broadway dreams in college, belting out tunes in Show Choir (back up singer – rarely the soloist)! You can still catch an occasional performance in my living room with an audience of my long-suffering friends after 2 glasses of champagne.

My dream location is France
I would love love love to get to photograph a woman in a gorgeous French Chateau. I love the luxurious feel, colors, and textures! If I’m being choosy, let’s throw in some incredible gardens and views. Any takers? Let’s go!!

Behind the Camera Fun Fact
I’m an extreme perfectionist about posing and lighting during sessions. I will exhaust myself to make sure you’re in luxurious lighting and poses that look like they were designed for your body type. You won’t be the only one tired after your sesh!

I’m an avid walker. Yes, walker.
Rain, cold, and Oklahoma heat I’m going to take a walk. I started this a few years back and it just became a part of my routine and it does wonders for my mental health. I love walking (the exact same path every time) through my neighborhood, working through my day, and praying. Starts my day off right!

Guilty Pleasure
Y’all. The Marco Polo app has a stranglehold on me. It started during Covid lockdown and now it’s pretty much where I spend most of my phone time. I don’t keep social media on my phone (reference that last mention of mental health) but I love chatting it up with my friends on MP. Any given day you’ll hear me in a group chat saying, “wait, did I already tell you this story?” because I always feel like I’ve told the same people the same story repeatedly.

Celebrity Photographer Crush
Okay it’s not a crush, because I love both him and his wife dearly, but I totally want to be Jerry Ghionis when I grow up. Any opportunity to hear him speak I will. Hubby and I were even photographed by him and it was the best day of my entire life.

Biggest Boudoir Myth Busted
In the year of our Lord, 2024, I STILL constantly hear women say “I’ve always wanted a session I just need to lose a few pounds first.” For the love of potatoes, staahhhhp. NO. YOU. DON’T. I can do more in lighting, posing, and a smidge of photoshop than most women can do in 5 months at the gym. You’re perfect, darling. Let me do the rest.

Confessions of a veteran photographer
So I have crazzzyyyy stories from 23 years of being a wedding photographer and I tend to embarrass myself about once a day, but one really stands out. At a particular wedding I was photographing the bride and groom and pulled out my cell phone to grab a couple images of them for the ‘Gram. Because I only photograph my kids with my phone, and my girls were babies, I said in THE CREEPIEST VOICE “Smile at mommy”. It was like I couldn’t stop the words from coming out of my mouth!!! Cringe.
Oh and then one time I flicked a woman directly in the nipple during her boudoir session. Neat.

Future Goals
I’m currently dreaming of a new kitchen and working towards that, but my dream future involves a lot of travel to beautiful places! Italy and Ireland are at the top of that list!

I’m a self-proclaimed party animal, a dedicated walker (rain or shine!), and a Marco Polo addict (don’t judge!). Most importantly, I’m passionate about making you feel confident and beautiful during your boudoir experience.

Ready to ditch the “I need to lose weight first” excuse? Let’s chat! I’m a pro at working wonders with lighting, posing, and a touch of magic.

See you soon!
