Common Excuses for Not Having a Boudoir Session

boudoir photography

Today we’re going to look at some of the most common excuses I hear when women are talking themselves out of having a boudoir session. Note that I said “talking themselves out of” because honestly if you’re here, reading my blog about boudoir, it’s because you do want to have a session. End of story. If you don’t want to have a boudoir session then I don’t know why you’re here reading about it but you’re also welcome.

1. My spouse isn’t into lingerie.

There are so many more options for a boudoir sesh than just lingerie! And besides, even if this is a gift for your spouse or significant other, this is not just about them. This is also about you and what makes you feel sexy and beautiful and like the incredible woman that you are. As women we are constantly pouring into others at home and at work and in our marriage but every once in a while it’s good to do something that simply makes you feel good. I don’t know about you, but when I feel good and I’m happy with myself I’m better at being all the things I need to be like wife and mom and business owner. Taking a minute or a session or a glass of wine or a whatever for myself makes me more, not less. You can’t pour from an empty cup… and who wants to be carrying around an empty wine glass? That’s just sad!

Also your spouse is going to love this, I promise.

2. Okay, Andrea, that’s fine but I’m not into lingerie either.

Also totally fine! There are tons of options beyond lingerie! Some girls go full nakkie and wrap up in sheets or sheer curtains, some girls prefer a more conservative approach with a huge comfy sweater thrown over a lacy bra and panty set, and I’ve even had clients wear formals with pearls or a short sexy dress and heels. This is your shoot girl, and it is all about you!

3. I have cellulite.

Girl, who doesn’t?

Having cellulite absolutely, in no way, shape or form, excludes you from having a boudoir session. Girlfriend, you can run companies, marathons, households, or charity events all with cellulite on your thighs and a smile on your face. It’s an accessory, not a definition or a limitation and it sure as heck isn’t a valid reason not to have a boudoir session!

4. I look dumb when I try to look sexy.

We are always our own worst critics when it comes to how we look, and quite frankly this is why you have me. I will coach you through this entire process of expressions and posing and looking like a sexy goddess. Don’t worry girl, I’ve got you!

5. I can’t afford a boudoir session.

I get it. Really I do. I am currently queen of the budget (thanks Dave Ramsey) while my husband and I work our rears off to get out of debt. And this is part of the reason that I offer payment plans. You can put as much down as you like and make payments either every paycheck or monthly, whatever works best for you! We want every single woman to be able to have this empowering experience and we are more than happy to work with you to make your dreams become a reality.

6. I’m too old.

You’re not. I promise you, you’re not. You’re not too old for anything else, why would you be too old for this? You’ve lived and you’ve loved and you’ve aged like fine wine and there is no reason that a date on your driver’s license should ever tell you what you can and can’t have.

Are those some of the reasons that have been keeping you from having a boudoir session? Well no more, my friend! If you have any additional questions or concerns please call or email, we would love to chat with you and help you feel more at ease.
