Why I Don’t Shoot Couple’s Boudoir Photography

 Something that’s gained a ton of popularity over the last few years is couple’s boudoir photography. We hear from a lot of past and potential clients that this is something that interests them. While I love to hear feedback from you all and it helps me tremendously, I thought it would be helpful to share why I only photograph women. Boudoir photography can mean a lot of different things to people, but I’d love to explain to you my heart behind what I do.

My love of all things boudoir started many years ago when I had an experience being photographed and I walked away with this incredible, almost euphoric, feeling. It tapped into a confidence I’d never experienced. I knew I wanted to replicate that for other women. It took many years to commit my entire career to it, but those years building up to where I am today taught me so much. It was never about just taking sexy photos of women that they can give their man. I noticed that while that may have been the reason clients initially booked the experience, it became so much more for themselves. 

As women we are constantly putting others’ needs ahead of ours and it’s part of the reason why we’re incredible. But sometimes it’s important to have something that’s all for yourself. When we take care of ourselves we are putting on our oxygen masks first, so to speak. You can’t be any good for others around you if you are not whole. I believe, because I see it first hand every day, that a boudoir photoshoot for yourself can be life altering. 

When we have a photoshoot with our spouses the focus shifts to them, and all the more with couple’s boudoir photography. Hear me please, that’s not a bad thing. But for my business, I want that focus 100% on you. I want us to only worry about what is most flattering for you, how you’re feeling at every moment, what makes you feel beautiful, and so on. These sessions are to celebrate your personal milestones, a major shift in your life, and even overcoming sexual trauma (and you’ll still be able to gift these gorgeous photos to your hubby). I don’t know a woman in the world who doesn’t deserve just 1 day where the focus is only her and she doesn’t have to worry about anyone else. 

Do I photograph couples at all? YES. And I absolutely love it. I love getting to photograph romantic photos of you and your hubby. But y’all just gotta keep your clothes on for those sessions.
